FinalThis project was not just supposed to be a physical reflection, but also a reflective representation of who we are. I chose to do this idea because basketball is a huge part of my life. This project was hard because I've never drawn any kind of person/body parts, so it was very challenging to get the proportions of the legs and feet right, and I still think they are a little distorted. I think that the actual reflection was a success, along with the legs and clothing/shoes, I also think I made the basketball very realistic. Some successes would definitely be the floor and the proportions of the feet. I think that I should've tried to make the floor look more like the floor, but it was hard. With this project I learned that I need to be more patient when using this medium because the colors need to be applied in layers. I will most definitely be more patient in future colored pencil project.

This project was very very VERY difficult. In fact, I had to redo a lot of parts on my self portrait after I was done. I've never drawn a face or facial features before this. I had a lot of trouble getting the placement and proportions of the features in the right place. I also struggled with making the features look realistic at first, but I think in my final that the features, hair, and skin tone looks more realistic. I started the piece with the skin and background. I then moved on to the nose, eyes, and lips, and did the hair last. I had to redo the nose and make the eyes more realistic after I was done, I also had to add more values to my hair and eyebrows. This was also my first time using acrylic paint. I learned that it is important to work quickly and efficiently because the paint dries very fast. Doing the practice was good because I understood the proportions of the face and the placement, although I struggled with actually applying these skills and ideas onto the canvas. I think if we were to do another self-portrait it would turn out better because of what I learned doing this project.

This dollhouse is in my little sister's room. I had trouble brainstorming an idea or this project, but I really liked the vibe and arrangement of this dollhouse so I'm happy with the idea. I've never really worked with perspective before so this project was a little difficult, it was hard to get the angles and perspective right, but I am really happy with the way this turned out. I used prisma colored pencil. I like using prisma colors, but I always have trouble keeping things super neat and clean with them. It was hard because of how precise and sharp the lines and angles were. There was also a lot of white, and I have trouble keeping the whites super white, or adding shadows to the white. I learned that white should be added last, however I started with white, and I think if I had started with other colors it would have been neater. I also have to leave spots for white because it will not completely cover any color. It was a little hard because the dollhouse does not look very realistic, however I drew it so I had to make it look realistic. I don't think that makes sense, oh well. I am not a very good drawer, but I think it shows in this piece that I have improved a lot. I also think I did a good job creating texture, however it could be better. I think I captured the essence and childlikeness of a dollhouse.

For my ordinary to extraordinary piece, I found a picture of a waterfall. I used the idea of a faucet as the waterfall. I got this idea because one day I was washing my hands and I looked at the faucet and was like hahaha this looks like a waterfall, and then I was like omg I could use this for my ordinary to extraordinary. So I did. I used India ink in this piece. I usually really like watercolor, but I think this medium was hard because of how many colors and layering and how big my piece was. I struggled a lot with the waterfall itself and creating the texture of the water. I really like the way the mountains/rocks turned out, I think I used the right colors in the right places and created good texture, especially considering the medium. I think I should have been more patient with this piece because the ink takes awhile to dry. I liked using a different medium than my usual colored pencil or paint, and I think that using it taught me a lot about the medium, so if I were to use it in the future I would know what to do and what not to do. I am happy with the outcome, however I think in the future I should be more patient and the craftsmanship will be better.

This piece is my first oil painting ever. I personally think this is my best piece this year. I used normal brushes for the everything except the clouds and the trees. I used a palette knife for the clouds and trees. I was not used to how long oil paint takes to dry. It was kind of difficult because sometimes I didn't want things to blend but I couldn't stop them from blending. On the contrary, the way the paint blends is so nice because I can keep on adding the colors to make the perfect color, unlike acrylic. I am really happy with how this turned out.
